Hymns to the Hope

Composer: Sira Hernández
Interpreter: Sira Hernández
Label: Sony Classical

Poetry, literature, painting: these sources of inspiration are essential for the artistic work of the composer and pianist Sira Hernández. Its powerful message goes beyond pure music, without ever losing sight of reality outside of art. She feels committed to this when she says, “Hope is an expression of faith and love for life, and we can never afford to give it up.”

»Hymns to the Hope« It is the result of several years of work. The pieces describe the return to daily life after the pandemic and confinement, including the hope of being able to resume our daily habits after the sadness that characterized this stage... and address the desperation in the face of the wars that continue to plague our world. »Hymns to the Hope« We embark on a journey towards hope, shaped by the tonal language and musical preferences of the Barcelona pianist.

Sira, an admirer of the poetry of Leopardi, Ungaretti and García Lorca, is not afraid to address social injustice. Already with Don't Forget About That – A Primo Levi, in memoriam In her music he makes reference to the corresponding literature of the 20th century: in this composition he remembers the great writer Primo Levi, who testifies to the violence suffered in the Auschwitz extermination camp; in the Fantasia for piano Commemorates women who have been victims of mistreatment and abuse.

With her unmistakable sensitivity and interpretive depth, Sira Hernández immerses us in a sound universe in which each note is a whisper of hope. An essential album for those who seek refuge and a source of inspiration in music.
